About ME

Music
I’m an experienced musician and musicologist with a doctorate in musicology from Bristol University, and teaching and performance diplomas in flute and saxophone from major London conservatoires.
I enjoy teaching flute, clarinet, saxophone and music theory to students of all ages, from beginners to diploma level, and I’m equally happy teaching in English or French.
Translation
British by birth and French by naturalisation, I’m also a freelance translator and copy editor (FR-EN, EN-EN). I specialise in academic and musical texts and I’m an approved translator for universities in Great Britain, France, China, the Antilles and the United States (see Translation & Editing).

Workshops and Higher Education
I’ve run workshops and taught at all levels for many years, and from 2015 to 2023 I taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the Applied Languages and Music departments of Aix-Marseille University (see my CV).
Research
As an independent researcher, I conduct interdisciplinary research which focuses on identity construction through music or language, the historical expatriate British community in Marseille, and resources for independent scholars (see Research and Publications).
