I’m an Anglo-French translator with a PhD in Musicology, and I specialize in translating and copy editing academic and musical texts. I hold the Masters-level Diploma in Translation (IoLET) and I’m a Chartered Linguist (Chartered Institute of Linguists) as well as a Qualified Member (Translator) of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting. I’ve taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in both music and applied languages degrees at Aix-Marseille University, and I’m an approved translator for several universities in France, the Antilles, China and the U.S.A.
I translate and edit journal articles, theses, books and archival sources for organizations, university faculty staff, postgraduate students and musicians worldwide, and my translations appear in books and leading journals in fields such as musicology, anthropology, gender studies, religious history, identity studies, linguistics, environmental issues, climatology and cultural studies. I particularly enjoy transcribing and translating manuscript archival sources for researchers in history and cultural anthropology.
“Amanda Haste provided not only efficient translations of historical documents accurately and punctually (even providing some translations before their due date) but her own knowledge of the cultural and historical context of these documents allowed for a more sensitive rendering of the text. She was professional and a pleasure to work with.”Dr Carmen M. Mangion (Lecturer, Birkbeck, University of London)
“Thank you so much for your excellent work – you really went that extra mile to make sure the translation reflected the true meaning of the source text in every sense.”[Website localisation client, Paris]
